Halyne demonstrated some of the best athletic traits of the Russian breeding program: tremendous over- reach with no interference, great extension and powerful hock action. She was in race training for a year and the trainer said she was phenomenal. Much of her race potential cam from her grand-sire *El Paso who is known as a great race sire. Unfortunately she contracted EPM as it is common in Michigan and that was the end of a promising race career. She recuperated, however and made us some beautiful babies, all with the same great athletic ability of their dam. A bonus was her stunning beauty. She was Top 10 Cal Bred. We took care of Halyne’s grand-sire Czaprak for a few months before he returned to his owners in Scottsdale. After returning home, Barry told me Czaprak successfully bred most of their 20 something mares in pasture, after they had been infertile for many years. What a guy! Besides being absolutely breathtaking to behold -- his trot was awesome -- perhaps his trot was the reason he won the Swedish National Championship before importation to the US.
