Summitt
was
my
favorite
trail
riding
horse,
when
Halynov
was
busy
with
the
mares.
Summy
had
a
bad
experience
with
show
trainers
and
was
soured
on
the
ring
(particularly
the
whip)
so
I
figured
I’d
see
how
he
liked
riding
trails.
He
LOVED
it!
We
went
up
and
down
cliffs
with
Vickie
McBride,
who
was
used
to
hosting
trail
rides
on
the
Tevis
terrain.
We
shared
many
wonderful
rides
before
my
youngest
decided
that
he
was
her
horse.
And
he
took
very
good
care
of
Jessica
until
his
death.
In
fact,
she
had
sneaked
down
to
his
stall
that
night
and
slept
there
with
him
(unbeknown
to
us,
of
course)
and
returned
to
the
house
very
early
in
the
morning.
Later
when
we
went
to
feed,
he
had
passed
on.
He
died peacefully in the night, probably soon after Jessie had left him.
